Ski Trip

Anonymous from Williamsburg, VA
Stayed 4 days ending February 2022

Our annual ski vacation to Snowshoe. The rental process was easy and the property was adequate for or needs. Previous renter must have been a heavy smoker as it was a few days before we could get the odors out. Location was great for easy access to everything however snowmobiles and grooming equipment were loud early in the morning (5am). They must maintain the slopes I know.

Awesome location!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Expedition Station! Cozy little condo and couldn’t have asked for a better location - right on the slopes and in the heart of the village!

Good location but not fully stocked.

Great location.

Little worn (sofa was dirty as well as ottomans). Didn’t seem to be vacuumed well.

There wasn’t a blow dryer in the unit, so bring your own. Fortunately we had friends in the building so used their blow dryer. Paper towels not provided which I wasn’t aware, we did call and get some.

One very small shampoo bottle and one tiny bar of soap. So pack more of longer stay.

We didn’t use the kitchen as we spent most of our time in our friends 2 bedroom.

It’s great to have a unit right on the slope but could use some better cleaning and a few updates/new furniture pieces.

Nice little room with mountain view, excellent location. Doesn't have best parking and unloading as compared to others in the village but not bad.

Great room for a view and ski-in/ski-out access.

Needs TLC

Kim J. from Charlotte, NC
Stayed 3 days ending January 2022

The room itself needs a lot of TLC and updating. The bed was terrible, flat pillows and no extra blankets. The pull out bed was broken (spring) and we had to pull the mattress off and put it on the floor. The carpet was stained. The toilet paper and hand towel were broken and no air dryer. The TV hummed when it was on and no HDMI port.

The location was great and view spectacular. I unfortunately did not receive any information about where to go for check in. Fortunately the staff at Snowshoe were able to provide all the information and check us in.

A room with a great view

Expedition Station is the quickest way from rentals to slopes. Located inside the main village, it's steps away from all the activities and great food. The room has an amazing view to start your day and even midday, you can keep an eye on the family while staying plenty warm. The TV is a bit old but it forces you to go out instead. Additionally, the kitchenette is fully stocked. Plenty of linen and a fold out couch for the kids (if you have about two). The checkout process was clunky but I think they are working on making it more streamlined.

Very clean and had everything we needed. The only thing we didn't like was the bed wasn't comfortable.

Perfect for ski school

Anonymous from Baltimore, OH
Stayed 2 days ending March 2019

We chose this place because of its proximity to ski school and rentals. It was so easy to get the kids to ski school, pick up lift tickets, and get rentals. The beautiful sunrises we experienced was just icing on the cake!

Great location, subpar beds and common areas

Great location, subpar beds

First the good: Debbie and her staff communicated well and were easy to work with. They even let us borrow a ski jacket for our 10 year old who left his at home. The parking lot right at the entrance was tiny and insanely busy, but we found a prime spot in the lot across the road (and never used our car again after parking). This was our first time staying in the Village--and we loved the easy access to slopes, shops, sustenance, and shuttles. The place was tight for four (about the size of a hotel room) but clean and efficiently laid out. The included ski locker was a great perk. Taking the shuttle to the less crowded Silver Creek was easy (and advisable). Now the bad: the bed was uncomfortable, and the sofa bed was horrific. The metal fold-out frame was broken, and we put the mattress on the floor and rotated who had to sleep there. Two days later my back still hurt. We left early because of the beds (and a day of rainy warm weather). If not for the borrowed jacket, I would've requested a night's refund honestly. The ice makers on our floor and those above and below us were broken for half the trip--Expedition Station seems prone to breakdowns. The temperature was always too warm until we either opened a window or turned on the air. There was also a distinct lack of a comfy lodge area with accessible wifi (the included wifi was within the room only) and so when I would rise earlier than my family, there was no place to go until Starbucks opened at 7:30am. I would not stay at this particular rental again (or Expedition Station), though the Village was great and I would use Mountain Valley rentals again. Last note: be aware that passes to Split Rock pools (which was great fun!) are included when you book directly with Snowshoe but not when you use rental services. Here's to hoping the property gets better!

Convenient condo

Great location at village. Ski in ski out. Close to restaurants and shops. Park your car and don’t move it until you leave. Small condo but perfect for 2 people. Ski locker storage and ski rental/lift ticket sales in condo building very convenient.

Highly Recommend

For being a studio, I was surprised by how clean, well-equipped, comfortable and convenient it was. The two of us had just enough room to cook a small meal and relax on the couch after hitting the slopes. And you can't beat the location! It is so close to everything. As to service, the staff at Mountain Valley Realty really went out of their way to make my trip enjoyable. Looking back, I feel truly blessed to have had this opportunity.

Really Good Studio Condo, Once We Got In

Anonymous from Knoxville, TN
Stayed 2 days ending February 2016

When we arrived at the condo after hours, the keys left for me did not work. After 2 hours and the help of Snowshoe staff, we finally got in. There was a very slight odor in the condo, especially in the doorway, as if someone had smoked in the unit in the past. The amenities in the studio were perfect for a short ski weekend - we had everything we needed.

Manager Responded on 2/15/2016

Hi Celeste, occasionally the key cards deactivate without warning and it is important to let our guest know that they can get key replacement at Allegheny Springs located in the Village. A phone call to our office would hopefully have made that a little easier. No smoking property so not sure if someone was smoking in the hall or not? It is a super location, thank you for the review, Debbie

Family ski weekend

Anonymous from Fletcher, NC
Stayed 4 days ending February 2018

Location was fantastic—ski right out of the ski locker. It was pretty tight quarters but we survived with our 12yo twins on the foldout couch. Better for two than 4. Well equipped kitchen but fridge is tiny. Remember your trash bags, soap, and shampoo. The realty place for key pickup is not 1.5 or whatever miles (as VRBO states) past the last turn but BEFORE Snowshoe Drive on the left. We had to drive around in the dark and ask for directions. No cell coverage but WiFi was good. No hot tub which would have been nice. Overall, just as described and with a pretty view, just look out for the realty place shortly after the turn onto Cass Rd

Christmas 2017

The property was clean and located slopeside on the 2nd floor. The ski lockers made it easy to store skis and boots outside the room and in the locker room.

Christmas week 2017

Anonymous from Bethesda, MD
Stayed 2 days ending December 2017

The studio was a great location and accommodating for our family. We enjoyed having a microwave and fridge in the room. The unit was close enough to go back to the room to warm up since it was very cold on the slopes one of the days we were there. The bus to silver creek was very easy and we are happy we went over there as the lines were not as long as snowshoe.

Perfect Spring Break Trip!

We had a great time! Location was amazing! They had about 6-8 inches of snow the week before we got in and a crazy blizzard the day we checked out! Loved it!!!

A Room with a View

Patrick M. from
Stayed 4 days ending July 2018

I couldn't believe my luck when I opened the curtains and found myself staring at the podium for the US Nationals Mountain Biking Championships with the beautiful forests of the Allegheny Mountains for a backdrop.

The condo itself was well appointed with everything I needed. It was extremely comfortable and would be great for a couple. The kitchen area is tiny so if you are planning to cook a lot of meals in the condo, you'll be wishing for more counter space and perhaps a bigger fridge. The bathroom had plenty of towels, soap, and TP. I brought trash bags but I didn't need them. One suggestion would be to put an extra one under the one in the waste basket.

One tip: there are two entrances to Snowshoe off of Hwy 66. The realty office is located in Slatyfork, past the easternmost entrance. If you make a turn off of 66 to Snowshoe Resort, you've missed it.

The folks at Mountain Valley Realty couldn't have been nicer. They made me feel very welcome. It was an extraordinary week and the location of the property was absolutely perfect.
