The 1864 Battle of Droop Mountain was a pivotal point in the Civil War. Come out October 11-13 as re-enactors cover Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park to showcase what life was like at Droop Mountain during the skirmish. There will be a reenactment at 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, and at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. This event is FREE for spectators. The Sugar Run Band will also perform Civil War era music at a Military style dance that will be open to the public Saturday night from 7-9:30 p.m., followed by a ceremonial firing of the cannons at 10 p.m.
